Stephen Ndothya was born on the 30th of August 1998 in Nairobi Kibera slums. He is a visual artist who sees himself as observant of traditional ways of life that portray society and political injustices, cultural conflicts, and pressure that modern life demands of us. In his Art he paints subject from different eras and levels of existence which are brought together in scenes that seems to take place, cultural memory is made to content with a dystopian environment that threatens to overwhelm it. Working with different mediums, his most preferred is Oil on because of the rich tones that oils provide to give his paintings a strong physical presence. His presence is enhanced by his skills at rendering life-like figures and his sharp eye for manipulating proportion and scale, which often creates a scene of threat or uncertainty resulting in artworks transforming the standard notion of realism into a uniquely expressive and attractive form.
